Crafters of earth-shaking Live Roleplaying Events
Firefly: Last Chance - March 12 2011
You can check-in in advance of the event itself, and doing so is STRONGLY ENCOURAGED. Advance check-in will be occuring at the Second Cup at the Stanley Milner Library(7 Sir Winston Churchill Square in downtown Edmonton) on the afternoon of the event(Saturday, March 12th) from 1pm - 5pm. After that period, we will be moving to the event space itself to start setting up and the like.
Organizers will be able to answer questions about rules, questions about the setting, and/or your character. Note: Get your character package in advance = more in-character time in the venue!
Venue: The Art Gallery of Alberta (www.youraga.ca).
Event Start Time: Doors will open at 7. Game ends at 11.
The following are not allowed in the venue:
- Real, functional guns.
- "Loaded" prop guns; includes caps, nerf & water.
- Confetti, rice or other annoying clean up issues.
- Pyrotechnics of any kind.
- Alcohol. Flasks are OK. Alcohol props are OK. Alcohol is not.
Refreshments: There will be some light snacks and your registration does include one free beverage. Beverages are also available for purchase onsite.
There will be a coat check.
You can e-mail us at firefly.boomtown@gmail.com. The sooner you can do that the better. You might also want to join our Facebook group at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=173151479367878, but you should still e-mail us in any event. But before we'll consider you as registered in the event, you'll have to pay the event fee.
The fee for the event is $25. The best way to pay is to use the Paypal button below. If you live in Saskatoon or Edmonton, you might also be able to arrange a time and date to drop off the cash with one of the organizers in person. Failing all that, e-mail us for a mailing address where you can send the money to. You can also pay at the door if you wish, but if you choose to do that you won't much of a selection of character and, of course, you always risk being turned away if we are over-capacity.
Last, but not least, take a look at the character questionnaire. By filling it out and e-mailing it to us, you'll give us the information we need to assign you a character for the event! After that point, get your costume together(if you're going to wear one, which we do recommend!), read the briefing package we'll send you about a week before the game, and then show up and enjoy an evening of adventure in the 'verse!
Make sure if you are paying by PayPal that your Paypal information will allow us to tell who you are so we'll know you've paid when you e-mail us. If you use one e-mail address for Paypal and another e-mail address that seems totally unrelated to contact us about the game, we might not realize you've paid.
Firefly: Last Chances is taking place at the Art Gallery of Alberta in downtown Edmonton. Directions on how to get there will be posted up here soon, but in the mean time you can always just take a look at google maps.
If you are coming from outside Edmonton, check the Forums for discussions on carpooling and accomodation sharing possibilities with people from your location, or start a thread about the same if no one else has yet.
For general information on what live roleplaying is and how to do it, check the Live Roleplaying Resources page. For Firefly: Last Chance, you'll be given a handout at the start of the game describing your character, their background, their goals, and their strengths and weaknesses("Attributes"). You take the role of that character, and roleplay them trying to achieve their goals and live their life. A fairly simple system governs and resolves conflicts.
We'll probably post more about the specifics of playing Firefly: Last Chance in the future, but for now hopefully this short explaination will tide you over!
