Firefly: Favourite Mistakes - September 26th 2009

The first and most important step is to e-mail us at firefly.boomtown@gmail.com. The sooner you can do that the better. You might also want to join our Facebook group at http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=19577411816#/event.php?eid=49213170793, but you should still e-mail us in any event.

Next, you'll need a character. Some of you have already sorted that out with us, for the others you'll need to send us your top three picks from the Character List, located on the Character Selection page.

The fee for the event is $15. If you live in Edmonton or Saskatoon, we can probably arrange to meet with you and get the money in person if you wish. You can also pay with the Paypal button below. You can also pay at the door if you wish, but if you want to do that, I'd recommend showing up early - you don't want to risk the chance of losing your spot in the game because it fills up! Once you've paid, your spot is secure, but until that point you could get bumped if we come up against our attendance limit.

(Paypal charge is actually $15.75 on account of Paypal's fees, as a warning.)

Firefly: Favourite Mistakes is taking place at Fort Edmonton Park. There has been construction work on the road leading to the park for most of the summer - doublecheck the park website for directions on how to get around the construction if such is still going on come September.

If you are coming from outside Edmonton, check the Forums for discussions on carpooling and accomodation sharing possibilities with people from your location, or start a thread about the same if no one else has yet.

Doors will be open at 5pm, though of course before that time you are welcome to come explore the Park if you wish(though you will likely have to pay a seperate admission fee to the Park if you enter before our event). The portion of the park we'll be playing in is "1885 Street". There will be food and snacks at the game, but probably not what most people would consider a full meal, so you should probably eat supper before you come. We're aiming for actual play to start between 6pm and 7pm, so please try to be on site by 6pm.

For general information on what live roleplaying is and how to do it, check the Live Roleplaying Resources page. For Firefly: Favourite Mistakes, you'll be given a handout at the start of the game describing your character, their background, their goals, and their strengths and weaknesses("Attributes"). You take the role of that character, and roleplay them trying to achieve their goals and live their life. A fairly simple system governs and resolves conflicts.

We'll probably post more about the specifics of playing Firefly: Favourite Mistakes in the future, but for now hopefully this short explaination will tide you over!
